We should focus on the issues the we do agree on and push our leaders to work on them and get something done.

"...political compromise on issues of serious national consequence has become dangerously rare—and seemingly impossible—in the United States. The built-in institutional tensions between and among the branches, designed by the Framers to produce outcomes based upon compromise, have been largely transcended in recent years by party allegiance, and essentially replaced by inter-party ideological conflicts over interpretations of some of the fundamental principles upon which the American system stands." -Dennis R. Bullock

It's too easy to just blame our elected leaders, they simply reflect the constituents that call their offices everyday. The voters that show up in primaries and give money early on to extreme candidates.

We'd like our leaders to be civil and look for solutions, but without political pressure they wont.

We need to put in the same efforts the far right and left do to make our leaders into problem solvers, and if they won't

Replace them.

The goal is simple - Members of both parties siting down at the negotiating table without pre conditions, working with civility, and staying at the table until they reach a consensus.

So how do we get there? How can you help?

For starters, you can join me by becoming member of No Labels. The larger the group grows the more leaders will pay attention.

And then we can step it up

  • Meeting with Congressional staff members often to express our views with civility.

  • Monitoring their actions on the floor and in the press.

  • Encourage our community to call and write in asking them to #FixNotFight.

"But Keith, Americans disagree on so many issues, how can you expect anyone to work together?"

The truth is we have always had huge political differences. Our very founding was one of intense debate and disagreement. However, in the end our leaders came together because compermise is the only way you progress in a demoracy.

We should focus on the issues the we do agree on and push our leaders to work on them and get something done.

Here are four areas we think we should start.
